PERBEDAAN PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS MELALUI PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF TIPE GROUP INVESTIGATION BERBANTUAN PROYEK BERDASARKAN KEMAMPUAN AWAL MATEMATIS SISWA

Abstract


The purpose of this study not only is to explore the differences in enhancement of mathematical problem-solving that students who worked under project-assisted group investigation and that students who worked under direct instruction by category of students’ mathematical prior knowledge (high, medium, and low). This study was a quasi experimental research with non-equivalent control-group design. The population of this study is VII grade students one of a public junior high school in Cirebon, year 2013/2014. Two groups were chosen from the population as research sample using purposive sampling technique. Project-assisted group investigation was implemented in experimental group and direct instruction was implemented in control group. The instruments that were used in this study is mathematical problem-solving test. Data analysis was conducted on the normalized gain score between the two groups of samples. The data of mathematical problem solving ability analyzed by Two Way ANOVA. Based on the data analysis, there is no enhancement difference in students mathematical problem solving abilities on project-assisted group investigation and direct instruction by category of students mathematical prior knowledge (high, medium, and low).
